Enterprise Application Migration to .NET

The Customer

LinQup Limited is a company who aim to produce ubiquitous software to make the configuration and reconfiguration of computing devices such as PDAs, computers, watches and phones easier by developing advanced application and device configuration management software.

The Brief

Having previously developed the first version of the software Neoworks were commissioned to develop the next version which incorporated a new server allowing the product to scale to larger user bases, and to support a number of new features which had been requested by customers.

This required Neoworks to rethink both the design and the technologies used in the development of the server in order to deliver the new features and scalability requirements requested by the customer.

Our Solution

Neoworks implemented a new server for the product using a multi-tier Microsoft .NET architecture comprising web services, Windows services and SQL Server. This technology was chosen as it offers developers a wide range of benefits such as a rich development environment, the new Microsoft C# language, and proven reliable and scalable server solutions such as Microsoft SQL Server 2000.

.NET's native support of standard web technologies such as XML and SOAP simplifies development of heterogeneous clients and ensures interoperability with future solutions. Using these tools Neoworks were able to produce a secure, scalable solution in a greatly reduced timescale, using the benefits of the .NET initiative.

Success

Neoworks implemented a solution based on Microsoft's .NET strategy, which is currently being deployed by large corporate customers.

Customer Feedback

Some of the comments we have received about the LinQup solution:

"Neoworks have been involved in the development of LinQup from the very beginning. Initially they developed a prototype system which was extremely valuable in securing funding for the full product, and having delivered the first production version are now developing subsequent versions of the server and client for Docubase. Their innovative approach to problem solving has resulted in the LinQup software being both flexible enough to customise for specialist solutions and powerful enough to provide a public service offering."
