The Concept

LinQup is a new software application that lets you sit down at any PC anywhere and, in just a couple of clicks, make it look and behave just like your own."
Simple to use
The user interface of the client software has to be intuitive and must inform the user of its progress and status at all times. The server solution must be straightforward to implement and require a minimum of maintenance.
Secure
When dealing with the personal data of individuals and potentially sensitive data within organisations it is essential that the threat of data theft or corruption is nullified.
Extensible
The software must accommodate the addition of an unlimited number of new applications and new versions of existing applications.
Our Solution
The LinQup system is made up of a client application that is used to control synchronisation of users' settings and a server that stores the settings and makes them available on other LinQup enabled computers.
Simple to use
As LinQup adds an extra dimension to the way that people at their machines, it was important to make the user interface of the application as familiar as possible. To this end, the LinQup user interface incorporates two major components: A traditional windows client which allows users to setup which applications configurations' are stored on the server as well as look at what LinQup is currently synchronising with the server and a Desktop Integration client that allows icons to be left on the desktop of Windows to launch applications in various configurations.
Secure
LinQup uses the industry standard SSL 128bit encryption system in all of its communications with the remote server. Furthermore, the data on the server can be encrypted meaning that if the physical security of the server were compromised, the data is not.
Extensible
As LinQup interacts with third party applications it is important that LinQup can adapt to integrate with these products as quickly as possible. To take this into account, LinQup loads all of its functionality out of various modules. Thus to add interoperability with new applications simply means delivering a new module to talk to that application.
Industry Ready
LinQup has been designed internally to support Windows Terminal services while only requiring one "Synchronisation Core" to minimise overhead on Enterprise Systems. Furthermore, plans are underway to allow remote administrators to control a LinQup client on a machine over a network to facilitate its use as a helpdesk tool.
