To be a director at neoworks you have to wear at least two hats. The two that I wear are those of software solution architect and commercial director.
I combine my commercial mindset with 14 years of software development experience to quickly and accurately understand a client’s needs. I am regularly engaged to work with our clients in a consultancy capacity, not only to help and advise them in understanding how to translate their vision and requirements into software, but also to architect and design the technical solution.
I have also been the technical lead on a number of projects including large, long running projects with teams in multiple geographic locations. It is extremely important in larger projects to maintain a firm grasp on the complete picture; how each element of the solution will interact with the end customer’s environment and third party systems. My experience and pragmatic approach to technical management has been instrumental in delivering well-engineered and successful solutions.
As commercial director, my two most important (or at least most popular) strategic decisions have been the purchase of a pool table and TV for the office break-out area. I also manage the financial strategy for the business, and ensure the general smooth running of the company as a successful small independent business with no external capital investment.
The ultimate achievement is to see those early visions and ideas translated into successful real world solutions. PayPal’s Christmas advertising campaign, which heavily featured the Toys "R" Us PayPal implementation that I had been responsible for delivering only weeks earlier, gave me great satisfaction.
