A Student's Perspective

Anastasia talks about the 3 months she spent working with Neoworks as an intern in the summer of 2004:

"In the summer of 2004 I embarked on a three month internship at Neoworks. The office is situated in the comfortable network of mews in the Bloomsbury area of London. I was instantly made to feel very welcome and there is a feeling of a genuine open door policy (I use this phrase metaphorically, as doors are few and far between in the cosy open plan office), not once did I feel I could not approach someone with a question.

Working for the company was both challenging and stimulating, working on projects with real customers (internal and external) is never lonely. Guidance and support is always at hand if you need it. My time at Neoworks saw me develop a time tracking tool for internal use to help make logging time spent on work for clients easier. I saw this project through from the very beginning of the requirements gathering phase, to its first release, and a number of subsequent releases. My other project was to work as part of a team on the development of an intranet system for a college. Both tasks set different challenges and working with different people I got to experience how from a spectrum of solutions the best ones were implemented. Never did I feel like I was delegated some tedious job that no one wanted to do as everyone pulls their own weight.

However, it is not just the work that stands out when I think back to the internship, there was an equally strong social element at Neoworks too. There were always people up for going to lunch in one of the near by cafes, or for a drink or two after work, or even playing a game of pool at the office pool table in a break. I found my summer at Neoworks immensely enjoyable, and the experience in the vibrant and stimulating environment the company produces went beyond what I had hoped to gain there."
